Dennis Schroder joins the Sacramento Kings. According to Fred Katz of Athletic, the veteran point guard agreed to sign a deal with his 10th NBA team. Schroder’s move is very close to an NBA record of playing for the most teams.
At 31, Schroder played last season across three teams: the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons. He averaged 13.1 points, 5.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds over 81 games. Even though there were constant shifts, he played a key veteran role and helped the Pistons reach the postseason with a rising young core.
Over his 12-year career, the German guard played with most of the elite NBA teams. In 2013, he started his journey with the Atlanta Hawks, and after that, he split with different teams. The list includes the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Boston Celtics, the Houston Rockets, the Toronto Raptors, and the Brooklyn Nets. Warriors, Pistons. In February 2025, He was traded to the Utah Jazz but did not play.

Schroder is now tied with several players for the second-most teams in league history and just three behind Ish Smith’s record of 13. After a 40-42 finish, the Kings traded away All-Star De’Aaron Fox and added two-time All-Star Zach LaVine. They also promoted Doug Christie to the head coach position for the long term. Now they have Schroder, which brings the Kings more stability in their core.

The Sacramento Kings did not stop at Dennis Schroder. As the Kings are on their way to reshape their roster, they secured another veteran guard. Sources say they also held Zoom meetings with former MVP Russell Westbrook during free agency talks.
