Set your alarms because The Darryn Peterson Show is making a splash late Tuesday night. If you’re on the East side of the Mississippi River, expect to be up late for the Kansas vs. Colorado showdown in Boulder, which kicks off just after 11 p.m. ET. This Big 12 clash will stretch into Wednesday for viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones, and even die-hard fans attending the game may not get home until well past midnight, considering the contest doesn’t start until after 9 p.m. MT.
It’s a peculiar scheduling situation.
Yet, if there’s a player in college hoops worth the late-night effort, it’s undoubtedly Peterson. After sitting out nine of Kansas’ first 13 games due to various injuries, the 6-foot-5 guard is finally finding his rhythm. He recently delivered his most impressive outing of the season. In a recent win against Baylor, he shot 11-for-13 from the field, scoring 26 points along with three assists and two rebounds in an 80-62 victory. By the end of that game, no one was disputing Peterson’s place in the top of any NBA mock draft.
The quest for the No. 1 pick is still competitive.
The surge in interest surrounding Peterson can be traced back to highlights from Kansas’ win over Baylor. Barring any surprises, expect him to showcase more of that brilliance late Tuesday or early Wednesday at the CU Events Center. This matchup has become particularly intriguing following the news that KU’s legendary Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame coach, Bill Self, will be absent due to an illness that required hospitalization.
