Nearly everything that Michael Jordan touches turns into gold. Even one of his Chicago Bulls memorabilia items is expected to sell at an astronomical price at auction.
And his 2020 documentary, The Last Dance, was a hit with basketball fans everywhere. He’s just that marketable. It’s Mike. Of course, people will watch. But as great as he is, there will be flops along the way.
One of those few flops was his role as a ‘special contributor’ for NBC Sports last season.
Michael Jordan Won’t Return To NBC
There was genuine hype when news of Mike’s television appearance on NBC broke last year. Plus, it was revealed that he’d have his own segment called “MJ: Insights To Excellence,” furthering the buzz.
Mike Tirico, a well-respected sports journalist, was tasked with interviewing Jordan. Unfortunately, the show fell flat. MJ was interviewed once, and the clip was divided into short segments over the following weeks.
Now, it’s official: Michael Jordan and NBC are not planning to do the show again in the 2026-2027 season.

While Mike made some good points in his previous segment, it was just weird to see a single interview stretched to its limits. Fans expected in-game analysis from one of basketball’s greatest.
They received none of that instead.
Fans Felt They Were Scammed By Mike And NBC
Unsurprisingly, when fans heard the news that MJ’s show wasn’t returning, they proceeded to throw shade at both Jordan and NBC on social media.
“You mean his ONE interview that went on for like 40 minutes that got released seconds at a time on nbc ya we keep it movin hahah,” a fan commented.
Another fan wrote, “Yeah, cause he doesn’t like being on the losing side. NBC is a joke.”
“Return to what?!? He sat down for ONE interview that lasted maybe 2 hours and NBC chopped that shit down to last the whole szn MJ finessed em & quit,” a fan lamented.
The Last Dance was no doubt a hit. However, nobody will remember Michael Jordan’s time with NBC last year.
