With all the Kawhi Leonard-related news circulating lately, it’s surprising that he’s found an ally.
Well, maybe not about his shady off-court business dealings. Also, this isn’t about the personal attacks he’s been receiving since being shipped to Toronto. It’s more of his status on the basketball court.
Truth be told, when healthy, Leonard is one of the best. Had he stayed mostly injury-free, he could have reached everybody’s top 20 list. But not all is lost for Kawhi, though. He still has fans, especially the ones who personally defended him on an NBA court.
Marquis Teague Chooses Kawhi Over KD
Former NBA player Marquis Teague shared his opinion on which player is better, Leonard or Durant.
The younger brother of former all-star Jeff Teague gave an intriguing explanation on why he chose Kawhi Leonard during his appearance on the ‘Club520Podcast.’
“Kawhi Leonard is better than Kevin Durant to me. I’ve never seen KD carry a team like that… If he was on that Toronto team, they wouldn’t have won. And I love KD, no disrespect, but that’s just a fact,” Marquis Teague said.

What the younger Teague was referring to was the 2019 NBA Finals matchup between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors. Truth be told, the Dubs were loaded that time. They had Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant.
The Raptors were spearheaded by Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard, and Pascal Siakam. Despite the Warriors having the superior lineup, Leonard steered Toronto to a title. But Kevin Durant was not healthy in the 2019 playoffs. Plus, Klay Thompson tore his ACL in Game 6.
Marquis Teague is entitled to his own opinion, though.
Kawhi Leonard Leaves Another Franchise In Disarray For Toronto
After months of uncertainty, Kawhi Leonard is going back to Toronto for the second time in his career. He had a very eventful one-year stint with the team from 2018 to 2019.
Coincidentally, he will depart for Canada after a tumultuous ending with another franchise. He had issues with the San Antonio Spurs before being traded to the Raptors in 2018. Now, he has left the Clippers for Toronto (again) after his shady off-court business dealings were brought to light.
It looks like when trouble is brewing, Leonard views the Raptors as his safe haven. At least, no matter what he does, Marquis Teague has his back.
